Riven is Live!

I'm happy to announce that Riven, the next Reflections (Alec and Adri) book, is now live at all of the major retailers.

The Setup:
Adri is the happiest she's ever been, but a noose is slowly tightening around the entire pack. Alec's victory in Chicago put the shape shifter ruling body on notice that he was going to do everything he could to bring them down, but she knows that right now he needs time to secure allies, time that they are almost certainly not going to have.

Alec's power has grown to a level Adri never would have believed possible just a few months ago, but the Coun'hij has the perfect tool for killing him and destroying every structure in Sanctuary. All indications are that Puppeteer is stalking them with an army of bestial creatures who are immune to Alec's special ability.

Alec has taken his first step towards reestablishing the monarchy, with him as the king, and now that Adri is back in his life he seems to know who he wants to be his queen, if they manage to survive. Unfortunately Adri never realized becoming royalty was part of the bargain when they got back together.

You can find Riven at the following locations, and a print version is hopefully only a few weeks away:

Sony, Diesel and others will follow as Riven makes it into the Smashwords premium catalogue.

As indicated previously, Riven will be on sale for $2.99 until the end of the week as a thank you to all of you, after which it will revert to its normal price of $3.99.

In other news, the fourth Guadel Chronicles book, Shattered Ties, will be released on September 1st and it will be followed by another Eldon Murphy Reflections book featuring Geoffrey towards the end of this year.

As always, thank you for everything that you are doing to help spread the word and for coming along to see what happens on Adri and Alec's journey together.

Dean

I've edited slightly-she did a good job trying not to give away any spoilers, but I wanted to err slightly more on the side of caution so as not to give anything away for anyone who hasn't read the book yet.

    "Hey Dean

Just finished Riven, WOW! So many things unanswered that are killing me lol. I'm not sure what happened towards the end of the book [redacted] Wasn't too sure but loved it and finished it in a day (I was hoping to read it on a long haul flight tomorrow but couldn't wait haha). Do you hope to write many more books in the series? It sounds like from the ending it might be wrapping up soon and I hope not I can't get enough of them. I hope you plan to release the next one very soon and look forward to reading that and the side stories I think will be released judging by the ending. Keep up the good work Hannah"

  2. Hi, Hannah.

Sorry to have edited your comment--just wanted to make sure that we didn't give anything away there that we shouldn't have.

Firstly, you're really fast! I'm glad that Riven sucked you in so well, but sorry that you don't have anything to read for your flight tomorrow :\

The ending of the book was intentionally left a little vague-there are clues there in Riven and some more in the Handoff, but I didn't want to give away too much too quickly-things will become a bit clearer as time goes on :)

Actually, you've just made me think of something else that I think I'm going to try and put into one of the subsequent books. It's about Alec's mom...

As to future books in the series, the answer is definitely yes! The next Guadel Chronicles book will be released the first of September and then I'll be releasing another Eldon Murphy book (The Eldon Murphy books are set in the Reflections universe, but feature a different cast of characters and are slightly darker/aimed at a little bit older audience. The two storylines will merge at some point though, so at some point you'll see a book written by both Dean Murray and Eldon Murphy as crazy as that sounds.)

After that I'll be releasing my first full Dark Reflections novel which will feature Alec in an alternate timeline so you'll get to see a bit of how life might have gone if his father never died.

That's as much as I've got written so far, but I think I'll be writing another Dark Reflections novel soon, and then as you've astutely pointed out, I need to go back and address some of the different threads that I developed at the end of Riven.

Ash and Kristen (along with one of my wife's favorites) need a book focused pretty much just on them, Jasmin needs a book focused just on her and Ben, Rachel will be getting a book of her own too as will another leading lady that I'm really excited for a chance to develop further, I'm just not quite sure how to pull off what I want to do yet.

So there will definitely be a lot more Reflections to come. As far as your other question, the one I pulled out, that conflict isn't over. They've been knock onto their back foot, but they still have a few cards to play and the relevant hero can only be in one place at any given time, so there is plenty still to happen there. Plus, that particular group isn't the only 'big bad' in Alec and Adri's world. There are plenty of challenges still to be overcome.

I hope that helps and am glad that you enjoyed Riven so much-thanks for stopping by to comment :)

  3. Hi Dean,
I have read all your reflections books and completed RIVEN today. I like the way you narrate all the characters and especially from Adri's & Alec's point of view. It would be nice if there is a book from Rachel's point of view as well. I will be eagerly waiting for the next Reflections book as I felt that ending of this book is a bit abrupt.
I would love to read more Reflections books.

  4. Hi, Jhanu.

More Reflections books will definitely be in the cards. I'm glad you liked Riven overall. Sorry that the ending was a bit abrupt-that's something I have to watch-it's a definite tendency I have.

I'm excited to get started one a book about Rachel here in the not-too-distant future. Not sure that it will be from her point of view though. She needs to be a bit more mysterious still for a little while. Some surprises in store in that book though :)

  5. Dear Dean,

I have just finished Riven and I loved it I'm a little sad Rachel left but I guess there's a good reason. I'm just wondering if Alec and adri's story will continue will they marry defeat the new threat and find Rachel. I was left wondering what was next in there story.

    1. Hi, Shelia.

I'm glad that you liked Riven! You've got some good questions, but they aren't really things that I can answer without spoiling the rest of the story :)

There is definitely a good reason that Rachel left...that will all become clearer as time goes on, but there are some exciting things in store for her still.

Alec and Adri's story will definitely continue. No comment with regards to them marrying other than to say that as of the end of Riven they did both definitely still want to get married.

As far as defeating the new threat, Alec and Adri are still just skimming the surface of what is actually going on in their world...I think you're really going to love some of the things that are still to come.

I'll have a post up here in the next few days hopefully that will talk a little more about what I'm working on, so that will help as far as telling you what the next few installments will be :)

      Take care,

      Dean
